Welcome to the National Register Searchable Database. The database contains information on Ohio properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places. County Name: Search for properties within a county

City Name: Search for properties within a city

Reference Number: Search by partial or full National Park Service Reference Number.

Property Name: Search by property name. If you do not know the exact property name, it is better to keep your query more general. Example: for 'Sells, Benjamin, House', enter 'Sells'.

Street Name: Search by street name. Enter the street name without the cardinal direction (N,S,E,W) or suffix (ST, DR, Ave, etc).

Historic Use: Search by the property’s principal historic use

Current Use: Search by the property’s principal current use

Architectural Style: Search by prominent style of the historic property

Architect: Search by architect. Keep your search general. For example, enter 'Wright' for 'Frank Lloyd Wright'. Note:the architect field is limited to names of architects or engineers mentioned in Ohio’s listings of National Register nominations.

Period of Significance: The length of time when a property was associated with important events, activities, or persons, or attained the characteristics which qualify it for National Register listing.

Area of Significance: The property’s contribution to the broader patterns of American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering, or culture.

Demolished: Indicates the current condition of the property. Demolished properties are no longer listed; however, OHPO retains information for research use.

Requests for PDF versions of individual National Register nominations can be made through the Ohio Historic Preservation Office for $.50 per record. To submit a PDF request from your database query, you may highlight the initial results table, copy and paste into a Word document, then email the file to our office. Or, click here to request PDF files--be sure to include the county and National Register Reference Number for each PDF requested.

Photocopies of National Register nominations can also be made by visiting the Ohio Historic Preservation Office in Columbus. Click here for directions to Ohio Historic Preservation Office.
