History-to-go is the best way to describe these cases filled with a teacher's guide, audio visual materials, and other "hands-on" objects and artifacts from the Ohio Historical Society's collections designed to make the teaching of Ohio history both educational... and fun!
The cases are adaptable for students in the primary, middle, and high school grades and are designed to complement Ohio's Social Studies Academic Content Standards. All cases are available on a first-reserve, first-served basis. Loans are for a two-week period. Rental fee for each case is $25 (including shipping and handling). Early Ohio addresses the "typical" development of a community in any unsettled area of Ohio from 1787 to the end of the frontier period in the 1830s. This case history includes artifacts, documents, and activities that will help the learner appreciate the challenges and experiences of the settlers' daily lives and to compare the student's way of life with the settler's way of living. Ohio's Path to Statehood assists students in understanding how Ohio formed its constitution and in so doing became the seventeenth state of the nation. Students will be engaged in hands-on, cooperative group activities which will culminate in the understanding that we have a government ruled by laws, established in the Constitution, which guarantees the rights of individuals.
