Octagon and Great Circle Earthworks and Flint Ridge Open House

Daylight hours for Parks
Great Circle Museum from 8:30-5 p.m
Flint Ridge Museum from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The golf course at the Octagon Earthworks has suspended play four days each year. Visitors have the opportunity to walk throughout the earthworks during these "golf-free days" and discover this amazing structure that was built over 2,000 years ago.
Great Circle Earthworks and Museum as well as Flint Ridge Park and Museum will also be open. This will give visitors a chance to view all three Ohio Historical Society sites in Licking County in just one day. Fint Ridge Museum Admission only: $3/adult, $1/child. Sacred Circles: Understanding Beads from Ghana and Around the World

OSU Professor Cynthia Dillard will share stories of how beads are created and used in Ghana, drawing on her experience as a bead artist and a teacher, in the U.S. and abroad. After a question and answer session, visitors can enjoy viewing Professor Dillard’s creations as part of Personal Expressions of SOUL!, a newly installed exhibition featuring the work of three local artists.
Kits consisting of a selection of African beads and a leather cord will be provided to 20 visitors via a random drawing. They may use these materials to create their own pieces at home. This event is presented in conjunction with SOUL! Art from the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, a featured exhibition on view at the Ohio Historical Center through February 28, 2010.
