2009 Campus Martius Lecture Series - "The Restoration of the Rufus Putnam House"

The Rufus and Persis Putnam House at Campus Martius has been on the same spot since it was built in 1788. That's not to say that the house wasn't remodeled throughout its history because it has been. The latest "remodeling" project was the restoration undertaken by the Ohio Historical Society from 1966-'72. Don Hutslar, the curator who worked on that restoration, comes to Campus Martius to reveal what he learned, explode many myths about the house and answer questions. Call 800.860.0145.

Yesterday's Essentials: 1812-Era Clothing Conference

Fort Meigs partners with Smoke & Fire, Co. to explore the intricacies of clothing and fashion of the early republic. Presenters discuss many facets of men and women's clothing of the early 1800s. Sessions include fashion shows, a fashion parade of hats and a presentation on uniforms of the 1812 time period. Registration includes Saturday sessions and a guided tour of the fort. Heirloom Plant Sale

Adena's annual heirloom plant sale features heirloom plants grown in Adena's greenhouses, including heirloom tomatoes, vegetables, herbs, flowers and unique hanging baskets. For the first time, this year's sale will feature a limited number of heirloom roses. Gardening books and tools are available in Adena's Ohio History Store. Spend the day and tour the entire site - Thomas Worthington's 1807 mansion, outbuildings, grounds and Museum and Education Center (site tours not available on Monday or Tuesday).
