The year is 1923, and you are invited to meet Mrs. Oscar E. Bland, wife of Judge Bland, and friend of First Lady Florence Harding. During a 30-minute performance, Mrs. Bland will share with her guests her joys and concerns about President and Mrs. Harding. Admission: FREE with museum admission.

Genealogy Workshop: Cornerstones of Genealogy (GW2)
Ohio Historical Center, COLUMBUS

This course establishes the foundation for all further genealogical research. It provides the beginning genealogist or family historian with the scope, understanding and sources of information used to prepare a family tree or family history. Describes the uses and sources of Vital Statistics, Census Records, Land Records and Probate Files. Includes topics such as military records, church records, identifying female ancestors, importance of source documentation, newspapers, family portraits, obscure sources and record preservation. Summarizes special types of records available to add body to the basic information. Jayne Davis is the featured speaker. All classes will be held in the Archives/Library at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus. Kids History Club: The Depression Era

Young historians discover the Depression Era by being a steelworker trying to make "ends meet" and a corporate board member who must make difficult business decisions. Participants make a kaleidoscope and they play a Depression Era game! This program is for children ages eight through 12. A snack is provided. Reservations required. Valentines By Candlelight

It was the romantic Victorians who "invented" Valentine's Day, that time of year when thoughts turn to the birdsong of spring and love. Guests will be greeted by costumed interpreters, romantic melodies performed on the violin and hammered dulcimer and a cup of "Sweetheart Punch." After an elegant meal, the Ohio Village Singers will present an entertaining concert of period love ballads and comic songs interspersed with romantic verse, poetry and readings. Moon Hoax: An On-going Conspiracy?

Since the first man landed on the moon, conspiracy theorists have claimed that it was an elaborate hoax - that it never happened. Armstrong Air & Space Museum invites you to an evening of uncovering the science behind rebutting these theories. Demonstrations will include testing radiation levels of everyday objects, changes in perspective when representing a 3-D object in a 2-D format, a look at shadows and the tricks that light can play on the human eye and a look at vibration and movement applying Newton's 3rd Law of Physics. Wahkeena's Winter Wonderland Hike
Wahkeena Preserve, near LANCASTER
1-4 p.m.

Off-trail hikes allow visitors to see the more remote areas of the preserve that are not as accessible at other times of the year. The topography of the land can be clearly seen in winter and you might be surprised at how alive the winter landscapes can be. Carnival! Cabin Fever Reliever

For one evening the museum is transformed into a carnival where visitors will experience the magic of "a penny a look", "for-telling one's future" and eating carnival food with delight. Of course, all these things have a price and this event, presented along with the "Once Upon A Dime: The World of Money" exhibit, will help visitors better understand the wise choices that need to be made in saving, investing and spending of money. Come and enjoy the fun with your family. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children and $4 for parking. OHS members pay $5 for adults, $2 for children, and parking is free.
